What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymised string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/ . After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Your contact information

We use any contact information submitted on the website’s contact forms to submit emails to our staff. This data is only ever used for the purpose of support of website enquiries or to communicate with you whilst delivering our services, it will not be used for marketing purposes.

We use SiteAnalytics, to learn more about our website’s visitors and how to optimise our website to meet their needs. The information we obtain includes:

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

Where we send your data

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam and abuse detection service.

Linked services

We also use reCAPTCHA v3 to prevent spam and abuse from our website forms. reCAPTCHA v3 never interrupts our users, conversions, but works by understanding the context of interactions with our site, which comes from seeing both legitimate and abusive behaviour.

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page, with the change becoming effective and update the “effective date” at the top of this Privacy Policy.
